KARL WILLIAMS VS LUKASZ BRZESKI LOWDOWN
Karl Williams (7-1) makes his UFC debut after a unanimous decision over Jimmy Lawson on the Contender Series. That was back in September last year and was his fourth win of 2022. It was an active year also earning unanimous decisions over Miles Amos (Professional Fighters League) and Kyle Wright (Jorge Masvidal’s Ikon Fighting Championship) before knocking out Simon Martin (XMMA).
Lukasz Brzeski (8-2-1(1)) also earnt the call-up through the Contender Series. He met Dylan Potter (2021) and submitted him in the third-round. However, he popped hot and received a ban. The UFC still granted him his opportunity and met Martin Buday for his debut last year. It was a great fight but unfortunately for him, he came up short in a split decision.
KARL WILLIAMS VS LUKASZ BRZESKI PREDICTION
Interestingly, this is at heavyweight so we should see the most explosive and durable versions of themselves. They match up very similarly physically as natural light heavyweights although we expect Brzeski to be heavier on the night.
This should be a great fight and we expect a mixture of striking and grappling. Williams is very well-rounded and will have the speed advantage and we expect him to leverage that advantage in the striking and wrestling exchanges.
They will start trading on the feet, but if Brzeski begins to land, Williams will level-change and try and seal the takedown. That will be a smart strategy as Brzeski packs a lot of power. He will be a knockout threat while on the feet and will attack the whole body with his arsenal of attacks.
Surprisingly, he is the underdog, so he holds all of the value however, we are backing Williams’ wrestling to nullify the threat and his top control to seal the rounds and convince the judges.
