JUN YONG PARK VS JOSEPH HOLMES LOWDOWN
Jun Yong Park (15-5) responded well in May with a split decision over Eryk Anders after getting wrecked by Gregory Rodrigues a year ago. His granite chin finally gave way suffering his first knockout and it snapped a three-fight win streak outpointing Marc-Andre Barriault (2019), John Phillips (2020) and Tafon Nchukwi (2021).
Joseph Holmes (8-2) also responded to a loss in May. He met Jamie Pickett four months prior for his UFC debut losing a unanimous decision which snapped his seven-fight win streak which included five submissions and two knockouts. He found that form again against Alen Amedovski submitting him in the first round.
JUN YONG PARK VS JOSEPH HOLMES PREDICTION
This is Holmes’ toughest fight so far. Park’s experience does not compare to Holmes. He is solid everywhere and although he will be giving up seven inches in reach and five in height, he is the better striker.
He is also a good wrestler which is where the fight could be won or lost. Park is good offensively, but his takedown defence is the biggest question mark here especially as Holmes’ bread and butter is his jiu-jitsu.
Park has been submitted twice in his career with his last coming on his UFC debut to Anthony Hernandez (2019). So, if the fight goes to the floor, Holmes is a good shout for a submission considering the odds.
However, we are backing Park’s experience, cardio and striking to get the job done here.
