JOSH QUINLAN VS DANNY BARLOW LOWDOWN

There are a lot of questions hanging over Josh Quinlan (6-1(1)). He had finished every fight leading into the UFC and was gifted Jason Witt (2022) for his debut. He inevitably cleaned his clock in the first round to keep the momentum going. However, he then met Trey Waters (2023) at UFC on ESPN 45 and got outclassed in a unanimous decision so it remains to be seen whether he can cut it with UFC calibre competition.

Now, he takes on Danny Barlow (7-0) who is also untested at the UFC level, but he proudly sits on an unbeaten record. Two first-round knockouts led to an opportunity on the Contender Series against Raheam Forest back in September last year. He kept the run going with another knockout reeling off his fifth first-round finish.

JOSH QUINLAN VS DANNY BARLOW PREDICTION

Quinlan is the heavy underdog which is partly down to taking the fight on short notice replacing Yusaku Kinoshita. However, it is mainly down to Barlow’s form heading into his debut.

They both possess knockout power and Quinlan also has a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Barlow can also wrestle, and we expect him to try and keep the distance and leverage his reach advantage to strike from range.

On paper, he has the tools to avoid any threat on the ground, inflict more damage in either stance and even land the odd takedown. So, we are backing Barlow, but considering the odds and the fact he has not beaten anyone near UFC calibre, Quinlan holds all the value.

Prediction: Barlow via Decision

Value Bet: Quinlan to win
