JASMINE JASUDAVICIUS VS GABRIELLA FERNANDES LOWDOWN
Jasmine Jasudavicius (7-2) is coming off the second loss of her career falling short in a unanimous decision to Natalia Silva back in June last year. That ended a run of three unanimous decisions of her own against Ashley Deen (2021 for the Cage Fury Fighting Championships), Julia Polastri (2021) on the Contender Series and Kay Hansen (2022) on debut at UFC 270. She was then paired with Cortney Casey who unfortunately had to pull out.
This has given Gabriella Fernandes (8-1) the opportunity to make her debut. She is riding hot on seven-fight win streak containing two knockouts and two submissions. Win streaks do not necessarily mean much outside of the UFC, but her last three wins came recently under the Legacy Fighting Alliance banner – a unanimous decision over Queila Braga (2021), a TKO over Edna Oliveira Ajala (2022) and a submission over Karoline Martins Moreira (2022).
JASMINE JASUDAVICIUS VS GABRIELLA FERNANDES PREDICTION
A Brazilian southpaw who can strike making their UFC debut is nothing Jasudavicius has not seen before. However, the Canadian was overwhelmed by Silva and got taken down twice.
Jasudavicius should be less worried about getting taken down here, but Fernandes is a good striker. If this stays on the feet, you have to back Fernandes, but if she cannot defend the takedown, it could be a miserable debut.
This will all come down to Fernandes’ takedown defence. It is hard to see Jasudavicius controlling the Brazilian for three rounds so we are backing her to earn a decision by fending off the majority of the takedowns and landing more damage on the feet, but this is tough to call.
