JARED VANDERAA VS CHASE SHERMAN LOWDOWN
Jared Vanderaa (12-8) heads to the APEX hoping to save his UFC career. After knocking out Harry Hunsucker (2020) on the Contender series, he has failed to impress. He has had some tough fights but is 1-4 now after losing his last three. He got TKO’d by Sergey Spivak (2021) before earning a unanimous decision over Justin Tafa (2021) and went on to get TKO’d by Alexander Romanov (2021), outpointed by Andrei Arlovski (2022) and get submitted by Alexey Oleynik back in April.
Chase Sherman (15-10) is his lifeline. We are not quite sure how he is still on the roster losing four of his five fights in his second UFC stint. That win was a TKO over Ike Villanueva (2020) who is not UFC calibre and Sherman has gone on to lose unanimous decisions to Arlovski (2021) and Parker Porter (2021) before getting submitted by Jake Collier in January and Romanov in April.
JARED VANDERAA VS CHASE SHERMAN PREDICTION
This will not be the highest level of Mixed Martial Arts, but it will be a fun scrap on the feet. They both have fast hands for big men and we can easily see a knockout here. They are even in terms of height and reach and we expect Vanderaa to be slightly heavier on the night.
If Sherman is patient and utilizes his movement to pepper Vanderaa with his jab, he can frustrate him and create openings for a knockout blow. However, if he gets sloppy and falls into the pocket, Vanderaa will make him pay.
Vanderaa has more tools and durability. He possesses heavy kicks and the agility to find the chin with them. He is also very dangerous in the clinch with devastating knees. Sherman has the speed and power to get the knockout if it is early, but we fancy Vanderaa to earn his eighth knockout or a bruising decision.
