DOMINICK REYES VS DUSTIN JACOBY LOWDOWN
Jon Jones (2020) was a turning point in Dominick Reyes’ (12-4) career. He earnt a title shot against the greatest of all time after going 12 fights unbeaten. He pushed Jones all the way in a controversial unanimous decision loss, and he has not won since. After Jones vacated the title again, he fought Jan Blachowicz (2020) in his second attempt at light heavyweight gold. He suffered the first knockout of his career and then Jiri Prochazka (2021) and Ryan Spann (2022) followed suit dishing out two more devastating knockouts to wallop his career into a freefall.
Dustin Jacoby (19-8-1) hopes to continue that descent and prevent his own. He is 1-3 in his last four after going nine fights unbeaten. He lost the momentum after losing decisions to Khalil Rountree (2022) and Azamat Murzakanov (2023). He pulled a ‘Performance of the Night’ and knockout out the bag against Kennedy Nzechukwu (2023) but is coming off another decision loss, this time to Alonzo Menifield (2023).
DOMINICK REYES VS DUSTIN JACOBY PREDICTION
Both fighters are very skilled and excellent strikers despite their dire form. Reyes is the better fighter, and his experience and skill set is enough to put Jacoby away but since arguably out classing Jones, he has lost his confidence and his chin.
Jacoby is a seasoned kickboxer, but Reyes is faster, stronger and more explosive. He possesses devasting kicks and left hand from his southpaw stance, but the damage he has absorbed in recent fights make this very hard to predict especially considering the skill level of Jacoby.
We can easily see Jacoby finding the chin however, if the Reyes of old turns up, he has the speed to light Jacoby up and the wrestling to take the fight away from the kickboxer if he wants to.
However, we have not seen that Reyes in over four years and have to back Jacoby.
Prediction: Jacoby via KO/TKO
