DANIEL PINEDA VS TUCKER LUTZ LOWDOWN
Daniel Pineda (27-14(3)) is coming off his third ‘no contest’ in his last five fights although this one came after suffering an accidental eye poke against Andre Fili (2021). The other two were converted from wins for the PFL featherweight tournament in 2019 due to popping for a banned substance. He still made his UFC debut after that TKOing Herbert Burns (2020) but then got sparked out cold by Cub Swanson four months later.
Tucker Lutz (12-2) has also been inactive not fighting since 2021. That year, he made his UFC debut against Kevin Aguilar at UFC 262 and earnt a unanimous decision. That win capped off a remarkable 12-fight win streak which was snapped by Pat Sabatini six month later via a unanimous decision.
DANIEL PINEDA VS TUCKER LUTZ PREDICTION
Pineda is vastly experienced although he is still unproven at the top level. He is in his second stint now and has another tough test in front of him.
Lutz also brings a relentless pace. He is a good wrestler and brilliant kickboxer which is his first point of call. He has been more patient in recent fights which will serve him well here as we expect Pineda will come out the gate like a bull.
Remarkably, all 27 of Pineda’s wins have been finishes (nine knockouts and 18 submissions) so Lutz will be wise to be the matador and even mix in his wrestling. There is value on Pineda considering the odds, but we are leaning towards a Lutz decision.
