DA UN JUNG VS WILLIAM KNIGHT LOWDOWN
Da Un Jung (13-2-1) returns after the first blemish on his record in 13 fights when he fought to a draw with Sam Alvey back in October. He was steamrolling through opponents on the regional scenes in Japan and South Korea before his UFC debut in 2019. He stepped up a level effortlessly, submitting Khadis Ibragimov and then clinically knocking out Mike Rodriguez four months later. After the draw with Alvey, Jung was paired up with Shamil Gamzatov but visa issues have got in the way which has opened the door for another fighter who has struggled to make the walk.
After having two fights scrapped due to positive COVID-19 tests with Alonzo Menifield, William Knight (9-1) is just grateful to get in the octagon. Especially after his impressive debut back in September. Knight made a name for himself with his knockout prowess, finishing every one of his victims before his debut. However, he showed a mature side to his game when he took on the undefeated Aleksa Camur calling upon his grappling to grind out a decision.
DA UN JUNG VS WILLIAM KNIGHT PREDICTION
Although Knight took this fight on short notice, he has had a longer training camp than expected. They are also both incredibly explosive but we expect Knight to resort to his grappling again.
Jung is the more polished striker and he will be eager to maintain the distance to pick Knight off with orthodox combinations. If he starts to land, Knight will try and clinch up and dirty box Jung and eventually try and get him to the ground to pour on more damage.
Jung boasts a significant five-inch reach and six-inch height advantage which will be important only if the fight stays on the feet. Knight’s natural power is effective when in a dominant position so if Jung can defend the first few attempts, his confidence will surge.
Jung has the experience, range and technique on the feet to land enough to break Knight and he has the power to finish but only if he can create the space.
Prediction: Jung via KO/TKO
