BRAD TAVARES VS GREGORY RODRIGUES LOWDOWN
Brad Tavares (20-8) makes his 24th UFC appearance. He made his debut all the way back in 2010 and although he has hit his ceiling and is not as active, he is still a tough fight for anyone. He only fought once in 2022 losing a unanimous decision to the current champion Dricus du Plessis and then got knocked out by Bruno Silva a year later. He returned four months later in August to welcome back fellow stalwart Chris Weidman and earnt a solid unanimous decision topping up his UFC record to 15-8.
Gregory Rodrigues (14-5) only has seven UFC appearances under the belt, but they all been memorable with five of them ending via brutal knockouts. He reeled two of them off in 2022 picking up a ‘Performance of the Night’ against Julian Marquez and a ‘Fight of the Night’ with Chidi Njokuani. He then received a taste of his own medicine from Bruno Ferreira (2023) but resumed business as usual knocking out Denis Tiuliulin (2023) at UFC 292.
BRAD TAVARES VS GREGORY RODRIGUES PREDICTION
Rodrigues has the firepower, but Tavares has the experience. The Brazilian is more of a knockout threat and his jiu-jitsu is on another level. However, Tavares is well-rounded and extremely durable.
He has the takedown defence to keep it standing for the majority of the fight and has the technique on the feet to avoid any serious damage and inflict his own.
Tavares is a hefty underdog and is worth a punt simply for having better cardio and being more experienced. However, we are backing Rodrigues who should land more damage on the feet and seal a couple takedowns to sway the judges.
