ARMAN TSARUKYAN VS JOAQUIM SILVA LOWDOWN
Arman Tsarukyan (19-3) is 6-2 in the UFC and already faced some of the best in the division. He put his name on the map on his debut stepping up on short notice to take on the current champ Islam Makhachev (2019) losing a competitive decision. Since then, he outpointed Olivier Aubin-Mercier (2019), Davi Ramos (2020) and Matt Frevola (2021) before knocking out Christos Giagos (2021) and Joel Alvarez (2021). He then met one of the only other better grapplers in the division in Mateusz Gamrot (2022) losing a decision but went on to snap the colossal 19-fight win streak of Damir Ismagulov (2022).
Joaquim Silva’s (12-3) last four fights have all ended in knockout, so they may be prioritizing excitement over competition. We have not seen anywhere near as much of Silva as we would like to only fighting eight times since his debut in 2015. Vinc Pichel (2018) handed him his first loss via unanimous decision. He went on to knock out Jared Gordon (2018) but then got sparked out himself by Nasrat Haqparast (2019) and Ricky Glenn (2021). However, he returned in October last year to fold Jesse Ronson with a beautiful knee.
ARMAN TSARUKYAN VS JOAQUIM SILVA PREDICTION
Silva deserves a lot of credit for taking this fight after Renato Moicano pulled out. On paper, this is a complete mismatch and Tsarukyan is fully expected to ragdoll Silva.
The Brazilian is a dangerous striker and has quality jiu-jitsu, but it will require a big mistake from the Armenian to get knocked out or submitted.
As soon as Tsarukyan decides to wrestle, he will be in complete control of the fight. That said, we have a feeling he will find a knockout on the feet displaying another string to his bow.
Prediction: Tsarukyan via KO/TKO
