AIEMANN ZAHABI VS RICKY TURCIOS LOWDOWN
Aiemann Zahabi (8-2) appears for the first time this year and is coming off a big win. He put on a ‘Performance of the Night’ against Drako Rodriguez knocking him out in the first round and it came with great relief after going without a win for four years. He got spinning back elbow’d into another dimension by Ricardo Ramos (2017) and then lost a unanimous decision to Vince Morales (2019) so now he is desperate to regain the momentum that got him to the UFC.
He welcomes Ricky Turcios (11-2) back to the octagon who has not appeared since winning The Ultimate Fighter in August last year. He sealed an impressive showing in the tournament earning decisions over Dan Argueta, Liudvik Sholinian and Brady Hiestand in the final.
AIEMANN ZAHABI VS RICKY TURCIOS PREDICTION
It will be very interesting to see how Turcios looks after his time off as he has a lot of pedigree. Zahabi on the other hand looks limited which is mainly down to his inconsistency.
There is no denying his jiu-jitsu and his knockout power was clear to see in his last fight. These will be his paths to victory. He will need to catch Turcios or take him down and try and get him on his back as Turcios will bring a relentless pace and overwhelm the Canadian on the feet as the rounds go on.
We are backing Turcios’ output to convince the judges mixing in strikes with takedowns to seal two rounds at least. He is the favourite, but considering his suspect takedown defence and Zahabi’s power, the underdog is well worth a punt, even for a finish.
