Mirra Andreeva will showdown with Victoria Mboko in a teenage tussle for the title.

The Russian made short work of her compatriot Diana Shnaider to romp to a 6-3 6-2 success. 

The 18-year-old will now take on 19-year-old Mboko in a match-up that could well be one that sees them face-off for the sport’s top honours in the years ahead.

The Canadian was almost flawless as she took under an hour to end Aussie hopeful Kimberly Birrell’s dream courtesy of a 6-2 6-1 victory. 

This is going to be a match to savour. It would be fitting if it goes the distance, but we also feel Mboko is more battle-hardened this week, particularly after ending Madison Keys’ reign, and may have the edge in the pressure moments as a result.
