Mirra Andreeva vs Laura Siegemund prediction

Mirra Andreeva looked set to make another deep run at a 1000 event in Beijing, but was on the end of a surprise defeat to Great Britain’s Sonay Kartal in the round-of-16. The world number five has faded somewhat in recent times, but it’s still been a superb season for the 18-year-old, with two big titles in Dubai and Indian Wells, along with a host of other deep runs at tournaments.

She faces Laura Siegemund in round two after receiving a bye. The German advanced from her first-round match after her opponent Dayana Yastremska was forced to retire in the third set. The match had been very competitive at that point, with 10 breaks of serve in the first two sets. Siegemund led 7-5 4-6 6-1 when Yastremska retired.

Andreeva is such a solid player and likely to create plenty of opportunities on Siegemund’s serve. She is heavily favoured to win in straight sets.
