Mirra Andreeva began her China Open campaign with a straight-forward win over Lin Zhu. The Russian, who has already won two WTA 1000 events this season, was always in control as she won 6-2 6-2. Andreeva won a commanding 88% of points on her first serve.
Jessica Bouzas Maneiro is up next for the 18-year-old. The Spaniard continued her resurgence with a straight sets victory against Dayana Yastremksa. Bouzas Maneiro was pegged back after going a break up in the first set but still took the lead and broke twice in the second set to win 7-5 6-4. She was on a four match losing run heading into the event, but has won both of her two matches relatively comfortably.
Andreeva will need to be wary of the threat the Spaniard poses, but she is a quality player and especially on hard courts, which utilise her movement and powerful shot making to great effect. Andreeva in two sets is how we think this will end up.
