Mirra Andreeva vs Eva Lys prediction

Mirra Andreeva made an emphatic start to her US Open campaign, as she easily got past Janice Tjen. Andreeva needed just 68 minutes to win 6-2 6-2. The reigning French Open champion won 85% of her first serve points, faced no break points and converted all four opportunities she created. Andreeva had also beaten Tjen in Cincinnati before losing a three-setter to Marta Kostyuk, while her previous tournament ended at the round-of-16 stage with a straight sets defeat to Leylah Fernandez in Toronto.

Eva Lys secured a much-needed victory in round one, defeating qualifier Gabriela Knutson. Lys had lost six of her previous seven matches since June while dealing with injuries and struggling to reproduce the form that took her into the top 40 last season. Lys showed resilience against Knutson, saving 10 out of 12 break points on her way to winning 6-3 6-3.

This will be a significant step up for the German, and Andreeva has to be viewed as a clear favourite to win.
