The rise and rise of Mirra Andreeva looks set to continue but the 17-year-old’s first match on clay in a so far stellar season commences with an awkward clash with her older sister.

The seventh seed clinched back-to-back titles on hard courts in Dubai and Indian Wells recently and is no slouch on the dirt having already reached the last four at Roland-Garros.

Andreeva meets her 20-year-old sister, Erika, ranked just inside the top 100 and appearing in the main draw as a lucky loser having been beaten in qualifying.

Erika has only won five matches in 2025 but the rivalry of siblings could make this a trickier contest for Mirra than it appears to be on paper.

Erika won their only previous meeting with a 6-3 6-1 success in Wuhan late last year, so she will have the belief she can pull off a shock and earn the bragging rights once again.

However, the seventh seed has definitely hit new levels since that clash in October last year and we are tipping the younger Andreeva to level the head-to-head and reach the second round.
