Mirra Andreeva vs Daria Kasatkina prediction

Mirra Andreeva begins her title defence with a tricky contest against an improving Daria Kasatkina.

The Russian has plenty of points to defend over the coming weeks and needs to find another gear after failing to make much impact since a title charge in Adelaide at the start of the year.

This would be a routine pick a month or so back with Kasatkina miles off the form that saw her once hold a spot in the top ten.

However, she has found her groove again in the past week or so, claiming a 6-2 6-3 win over Laura Siegemund in the first round to make it three victories in her last four. 

This will be their third meeting with Daria winning their first clash on a hardcourt in 2024 before Mirra responded in straight sets at the French Open last year.

This is a free hit for Kasatkina in terms of low expectations and that makes her dangerous. However, Andreeva can stand up to her variety better than someone like Siegemund and the fifth seed’s power in these conditions should be the top trump if she unleashes her weapons with controlled aggression.
