Miomir Kecmanovic advanced to his first semi-final of the season after getting past Terence Atmane in straight sets. It was a thoroughly comfortable match for the Serb, though the match did end in bizarre fashion as Atmane was penalised for a time violation on match point, which handed Kecmanovic the win.
He takes on Flavio Cobolli in the last four after the Italian beat Yibing Wu. Cobolli crucially saved two set points in the first, going on to pull ahead in the tiebreak. Despite a straight-forward scoreline in the second, the Italian needed to save six break points as he wrapped up a 7-6 (4) 6-1 victory after one hour and 35 minutes.
Cobolli was clutch when it came to holding serve, but his first serve percentage was down at 49%, and that is unlikely to cut it against Kecmanovic, who has performed strongly so far this week in Acapulco.
