Michael Zheng is targeting a first main draw win on home soil at Indian Wells.
The young American notched his first ever ATP Tour victory at the Australian Open after coming through qualifying and plays just his fifth top-tier match here.
Zheng, 22, is very much on the rise having been just outside the top 300 in September and he is now up to 145 on the back of a couple of Challenger titles.
The youngster meets lucky loser Vit Kopriva, who is much more comfortable on clay and arrives on the back of a semi-final run in Rio.
There’s certainly mileage in Zheng winning here and springing the upset against the world number 62, who will be seen as the favourite despite earning a reprieve from his failure in qualifying.
