Michael van Gerwen vs Andrew Gilding prediction
Although Michael van Gerwen has won two World Series events in 2026, as well as a Players Championship title, there have been plenty times he has delivered disappointing displays in the key events.
However, as a three-time World Matchplay winner and two-time runner-up, he certainly can't be ruled out of the running in Blackpool.
Andrew GIlding can be a tricky customer on most days, while he can beat anyone when he hits top form. Indeed, he defeated MVG in a European Tour event in Bratislava less than a month ago.
Goldfinger has also been a strong performer in Blackpool over the past couple of years having reached back-to-back quarter-finals, while his run to the last eight in 2024 was ended by eventual runner-up Van Gerwen.
Question marks remain over Van Gerwen's ability to rediscover the form that saw him dominate darts, and we think Gilding can push him close here.
