McCartney Kessler vs Ekaterina Alexandrova prediction

McCartney Kessler suffered an opening round defeat to fellow American Caty McNally at the Cincinnati Open in her most recent event. She is down to 67 in the live rankings. Kessler has reached three WTA quarter-finals this season, all on different surfaces, but she has failed to advance beyond that stage. 

Ekaterina Alexandrova has struggled for much of this season, aside from a run to the final of the Abu Dhabi Open back in February. However, she did pull off one of her best results for quite some time in Toronto as she beat world number one Aryna Sabalenka to reach the quarter-finals. Alexandrova took the first set against Elina Svitolina and was on course for the last four, but she went on to lose. She has failed to kick on since then, with early losses in Cincinnati and Monterrey.

Alexandrova will still be regarded as the firm favourite to come through this one.
