Joint though, is the one with momentum in her favour after taking out Leylah Fernandez, capitalising on some fatigue from her opponent following the Canadian’s recent exploits in Washington.

Joint has faced Kessler before, the American beating her at Wimbledon back in 2024 in a second-round qualifier. That however, was over a year ago and on grass which means that whilst it may give Kessler a psychological edge, Joint won’t be worried about that. She’ll be riding the crest of a wave following that win over Fernandez.
