Maya Joint vs Liudmila Samsonova prediction

Maya Joint’s struggles continued as she lost her opening match at the Monterrey Open to Panna Udvardy in straight sets. The Australian’s 2025 season yielded the first two tour-level titles of her career, but she has found it tough going in 2026. Joint has only reached one quarter-final and that was right at the start of the year in Adelaide. In terms of her overall record, Joint has lost 21 of her 32 matches in 2026. 

Liudmila Samsonova is her first-round opponent. The 27-year-old has shown encouraging signs during the North American hard court swing. Samsonova beat 2025 Australian Open champion Madison Keys on her way to the last eight in Washington and then won three further matches in Toronto as she reached the round-of-16. Samsonova was a double break up in the deciding set against world number two Elena Rybakina and looked set for the quarter-finals, but she went on to lose the match.

Samsonova beat Joint in the third-round of that event, and she leads the head-to-head 2-0 overall.
