Maya Joint vs Greet Minnen prediction

Maya Joint has not been in the best of form since her Eastbourne Open triumph at the end of June, her second career title achieved this year. She lost in the first-round of both Wimbledon and the Washington Open, while she could only reach the second-round in Montreal last week, losing to McCartney Kessler. However, she did beat Washington winner Leylah Fernandez in the first-round of that event and has enjoyed nearly a week of rest before the start of this tournament.

Greet Minnen makes her return from a back problem in Cincinnati. It was a huge disappointment for the Belgian a month ago, as she was forced to withdraw from Wimbledon due to the injury, which was sustained in the days leading up to the event. Minnen had shown some real form heading into the third major of the season, even picking up a title in Birmingham during the run up.

Minnen may be rusty having not featured for over five weeks, and this should be a match where Joint takes control from the start. We would not be surprised if she wraps this up in straight sets.
