Maya Joint produced a decent showing in Cincinnati as she defeated Greet Minnen and Beatriz Haddad Maia to make the third-round. Her run ended after a defeat to Ekaterina Alexandrova, but that was her best result at a Masters 1000 event so far. It was also a step in the right direction for the 19-year-old after a dip in form since lifting her second title of the year in Eastbourne at the end of June.

The 23-year-old was agonisingly close to her best result of the season but squandered two match points against Madison Keys in the second-round of the Cincinnati Open, with the reigning Australian Open champion coming from a set down to win. That followed a decent showing in Montreal, which saw the German make the third-round.
This is an intriguing encounter between two players with promising potential. Lys seems to have found a bit of form, but Joint has made huge strides this season and has been very consistent for the most part. She may find it tough against Lys, but we back her to come through and win.
