Maya Joint vs Alexandra Eala prediction
Maya Joint booked her place in the final of the Eastbourne Open as she beat Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 7-5 6-3. The Australian was 5-3 down in the first set but reeled off four straight games to take the crucial advantage. Joint raced ahead in the second to wrap up the win and make a second final on the WTA Tour and her first on grass. Joint won the Moroccan Open last month and will now enter the top 50 of the world rankings.
Alexandra Eala will be her opponent after she made her first ever tour-level final. She recovered from a poor second set to beat Varvara Gracheva 7-5 2-6 6-3. Eala took a 3-1 lead in the decider but was pegged back to 3-3 by Gracheva. She then crucially held her serve after five deuces and a break point in the seventh game of the final set, going on to win.
This is tough to call as Eala has now won six matches all week going back to qualifying but Joint has beaten the likes of Ons Jabeur and Emma Raducanu on her way to the final. Eala’s second serve percentage in the semi-final was at just 32% and that could potentially be capitalised on by Joint. The Australian is continually improving and might just have enough to secure a second career title.
