Maya Joint vs Ajla Tomljanovic prediction

Maya Joint lived up to her hype as she downed former Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin to progress in Adelaide.

The 19-year-old is eyeing a big year in 2026 and gave the home fans a glimpse of her star potential with a 7-6 6-4 win over the American.

Joint will now face fellow Aussie, Ajla Tomljanovic after the 32-year-old advanced when fifth seed Clara Tauson retired trailing 7-6.

This will be the fourth chapter of this generational ‘Battle of Oz’ with Tomljanovic leading 2-1 following a trilogy in 2025.

The teenage Joint is currently the higher ranked of the two at 32 in the world, but despite Ajla sitting down in 76th spot, she remains an attacking menace when fully fit and did win their only match on a hardcourt 4-6 6-2 6-4 in the qualifiers at Ningbo late last year.

This could go either way given the topsy-turvy nature of the match-up and the value is with Ajla, but we actually do fancy Joint to demonstrate her status as a name on the rise with a victory to earn the bragging rights in this one.
