Mattia Bellucci’s highlight of the grass court season in the lead-up to Wimbledon was his win over defending champion Alexander Bublik in the first-round of the Halle Open. However, the Italian then lost in the next round to Raphael Collignon despite taking the first set. He also competed in Stuttgart a week earlier, winning against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and Yannick Hanfmann to reach the quarter-finals, before a loss to Taylor Fritz. Overall, he has five wins and four losses from his nine matches on the surface in 2026.
He faces Zachary Svajda in the first-round. The American progressed to the round-of-16 at Roland Garros a few weeks ago. He only entered Queen’s Club as a lucky loser following a defeat in qualifying, but he then lost to Tommy Paul in straight sets. Svajda also failed to make it out of qualifying in Mallorca after a straight sets loss to Damir Dzumhur.
Svajda has not looked particularly threatening on grass, making Bellucci the preferred pick.
