Matteo Berrettini has managed to get matches under his belt after making his return from injury in September. He started off slowly, with early exits in Hangzhou and Shanghai but he achieved his best result in quite some time two weeks ago as he reached the quarter-finals in Vienna, equalling his best result of the season. He will hope to continue the momentum with a strong event here as he looks to build towards an injury-free 2026.
Quentin Halys is his first-round opponent. Aside from a semi-final in Dubai during the earlier part of the season, Halys has struggled to get any sort of run going in terms of consistent form. The last time the Frenchman won back-to-back main draw matches was at the French Open all the wy back in May, where he made the third-round and took Holger Rune to five sets.
Berrettini seems to have turned a corner, and these indoor conditions suit his strong serve and groundstrokes. The 2021 Wimbledon finalist could get the job done in straight sets.
