Matteo Berrettini vs Learner Tien prediction
Matteo Berrettini booked his place in the quarter-finals of the Moselle Open with a straight sets win over Aleksandar Vukic. The Italian went an early break up in the first set, but Vukic broke back as it went to a tiebreak. Berrettini edged ahead and then controlled the second to win 7-6 (5) 6-3 after an hour and 21 minutes. He won 88% of his first serve points.
He now goes up against Learner Tien. The youngster was not at his best but still defeated Moez Echargui in the last round. The world number 140 was making his ATP debut at 32-years-old and broke Tien when he was serving for the first set at 5-4. The American still took it on a tiebreak and ended up winning 7-6 (3) 6-3.
Tien will need to be more potent when it comes to taking his break point opportunities if they arrive in this match, as he only converted two out of a possible 11 in the last round. Berrettini seems to be finding his footing again and will always be a threat indoors with that serve, but Tien has such a strong defensive game and can force errors off that backhand side to his advantage.
