Matteo Berrettini vs Christopher O’Connell Prediction

Matteo Berrettini continued his good form on Tuesday as he beat the effervescent Gael Monfils 7-5 6-4. There was not much between the two players but Berrettini just had the edge in the key moments.

There is plenty of room for improvement however as he only managed to win 22% on his second serve but Berrettini will be confident he can raise his game when needed.

He now meets Christopher O’Connell in the round of 16 and the Australian was handed a walkover when Bulgarian star Grigor Dimitrov was forced to retire. Dimitrov has lost the first set 6-0 and was clearly struggling but O’Connell moves on and can now test himself against Berrettini.

The pair have met once before and that came in Shanghai last year when Berrettini won 7-6 7-6. We could quite easily see a couple of sets that go the distance and potentially to a decider. Berrettini simply has to be favoured to win however and move into the quarters.
