Cam Norrie will hope it’s a case of third time lucky when he meets Matteo Berrettini in Vienna.
The Brit has lost his previous two meetings with the Italian, including a final defeat at Queen’s Club four years ago as well as four-set loss at this year’s Australian Open.
Norrie will head into this latest clash in buoyant mood having posted one of his best results of the season as he took down seventh seed Andrey Rublev 6-2 6-7 6-2.
Berrettini is still searching for consistency following injury troubles but did show some of his best tennis in a 7-6 6-3 triumph over Alexei Popyrin.
If the former Wimbledon runner-up was in more of a groove, he’d be a clear pick here, but he’s still working back towards his best level and Norrie’s appetite and desire has grown over the second part of this season, suggesting he could make his mark in this one.
