Matteo Arnaldi vs Rei Sakamoto prediction
Matteo Arnaldi will hope to end the season strongly as he looks for an upturn in form after a poor recent run. He has a negative win-loss record in 2025, and could not make it out of qualifying for the Japan Open last week as he was defeated by Marton Fucsovics in the second stage. Arnaldi has lost six of his seven matches overall. Nevertheless, he has reached a quarter-final of a Masters 1000 this season after his performances in Madrid and still showed his quality on a hard court when he got through to the last four of the Delray Beach Open back in March.
He is up against Rei Sakamoto in the first-round. The Japanese player, who is just 19-years-old, is aiming for his first win on the ATP Tour against Arnaldi. He also could not get out of qualifying in Tokyo, while his only other match on the tour was a loss in the first-round of the Miami Open all the way back in March. He has enjoyed some success in Challengers, winning in Cary at the beginning of July.
Despite his concerning recent performances, Arnaldi should have too much for his inexperienced opponent in round one.
