Matteo Arnaldi enjoyed an incredible run at Roland Garros as he defeated the likes of Stefanos Tsitsipas, Frances Tiafoe and Matteo Berrettini to advance all the way to his first Grand Slam semi-final. However, he was then forced to withdraw from the tournament before his match with compatriot Flavio Cobolli due to illness. Arnaldi seems to have overcome his injury problems in the past few months, and he now turns his attention to the grass court season.
He will compete in Eastbourne and faces Giles Hussey in the first-round. The 29-year-old qualified for this event after impressive straight set wins over James Duckworth and Marco Trungelliti. He will be hoping for a win on home soil, but is likely to find it tough against Arnaldi.
The Italian may lack a notable record on grass, but he possesses a far greater pedigree than Hussey and will be expected to advance.
