Marton Fucsovics vs Denis Shapovalov prediction

Marton Fucsovics picked up his third ATP Tour title last week after winning in the final against Botic van de Zandschulp in Winston-Salem. Fucsovics won the first set and looked set to wrap it up comfortably in the second at 5-1 up, but Van de Zandschulp fought back to take it into a tiebreak. The Hungarian recovered to get the job done and will be raring to go in New York after his success.

Denis Shapovalov won a title in Los Cabos last month, but his inconsistency has returned as he has failed to register a win since, following early exits in Toronto and Cincinnati. The head-to-head is currently locked at 2-2 and it’s 1-1 on outdoor hard court.

Despite his offensive capabilities, Shapovalov is prone to errors and that could be exploited by an in-form Fucsovics over five sets, who will look to extend the rallies. The Hungarian is well-placed to pull off an upset in the first-round.
