Martin Landaluce has suffered five losses from his last six matches, with his only victory occurring at the Davis Cup for Spain against Matias Soto of Chile. Landaluce has shown glimpses of his potential, especially at the Masters events, with two quarter-final appearances in Miami and Rome. However, his recent form is a cause for concern, and his ranking has dropped to 73 in the world.

He will face Jan-Lennard Struff. The German did win his first-round match at the China Open against Thiago Agustin Tirante, before a straight sets loss to former world number one Daniil Medvedev. Other than a remarkable run to the quarter-finals of Wimbledon, Struff has failed to advance beyond the second-round of a tournament in 2026. 

Neither player is in particularly convincing form, but Struff has the weapons to dictate proceedings if he can find his range from the outset. He also leads the head-to-head 1-0 after a three set victory in Mallorca earlier this season.
