Martin Damm continued his progress in Montpellier as he comfortably defeated Roberto Bautista Agut to make the quarter-finals. The American qualifier, who had beaten Hubert Hurkacz in the previous round, completely dominated the encounter against Bautista Agut as he broke on four separate occasions and did not even concede a break point on his way to a 6-1 6-3 win.
He faces Luca Nardi next. The Italian maintained his strong record against Flavio Cobolli as he recorded a straight sets win in the round-of-16. Nardi was not broken on serve and applied constant pressure on Cobolli’s service games as he won 6-2 6-3 against the second seed. The 22-year-old has won his last four matches against Cobolli.
Damm has already enjoyed a strong week, but Nardi has won six of his last seven matches, which includes his run to the final of the Manama Challenger last week, and starts as the favourite.
