Mirra Andreeva will hope it’s a case of third time lucky when she meets Marta Kostyuk with a place in the 2026 French Open final on the line.
The Russian trails 2-0 in the head-to-head with the Ukrainian and has yet to win a set in the match-up.
Kostyuk triumphed in both encounters this year, including a 6-3 7-5 on the dirt in the final in Madrid back in May.
The 15th seed remains unbeaten on clay after stretching her winning streak to 17 matches at the expense of her compatriot Elina Svitolina last time out and it’s going to take something special to stop her.
Andreeva has the clay-court craft to do it and was hugely impressive in her rout of Sorana Cirstea in the last eight.
The teenager should at least win a set this time around but we fancy the psychology of the head-to-head to be a factor in this one too.
