Marketa Vondrousova meets Karolina Muchova in an all-Czech blockbuster in Ningbo.

This is former Wimbledon champion, Vondrousova’s first outing since reaching the last eight at the US Open, so she may be undercooked against an opponent of Muchova’s ilk. 

Indeed, Muchova has won three of her five matches since reaching the same stage at Flushing Meadows and at 20 in the world sits 16 places better off in the rankings. 

Vondrousova leads the head-to-head 2-1 but her two wins came on clay with Muchova triumphing the last time they did battle on a a hardcourt at the US Open in 2023.
