Marin Cilic vs Andrey Rublev prediction

Andrey Rublev will meet former US Open champion Marin Cilic for the first time in four years in what is a big-name opener in New York.

The Russian leads the head-to-head 4-3 but Marin has won the last two, which were there only previous meetings at Grand Slams at the Australian Open and French Open respectively.

The veteran Cilic is no longer the force of old, but Rublev has also drifted in terms of consistency, although he will be buoyed by a title in Bastad recently.

The 37-year-old Cilic is now down at 81 in the rankings after winning just one of his last six and Andrey should have too much over the duration of this one, but don’t rule out the Croatian from pushing it beyond three sets.
