Marie Bouzkova began her Cincinnati Open campaign with a straight sets win over Lucrezia Stefanini. The Czech was largely untroubled as she won 6-2 6-4. Bouzkova’s record on hard courts over the past month has been mixed – she advanced to the last eight of the Prague Open but was unable to retain her crown following a defeat to compatriot Tereza Valentova. She then suffered an opening round exit in Toronto to Taylor Townsend.

Her next opponent is Iva Jovic. The American opened up with a win over Tomara Korpatsch. She did not commit a double fault as she won 6-4 6-3 against the German. 

Jovic will start as the favourite to advance, and she has been operating at a higher level throughout much of 2026. However, Bouzkova is still a dangerous opponent on this surface and could frustrate Jovic if she is able to extend the rallies to her advantage. If the teenager is able to go on the offensive, she should have too much overall.
