Marie Bouzkova progressed to the round-of-16 at Queen’s Club after a dominant win over Polina Kudermetova. The Czech was not broken on serve and did not concede a game in the first set as she won 6-0 6-3. This was Bouzkova’s first match of the grass court season, following her third-round appearance at Roland Garros towards the end of last month.
She now faces Donna Vekic. The Croatian only entered the main draw as a lucky loser following the withdrawal of Marta Kostyuk, but she won her first-round match after a largely comfortable win over teenager Mika Stojsavljevic. Vekic was broken on two occasions but created 10 break point opportunities overall as she claimed a 6-2 6-3 victory.
Vekic can be a very dangerous operator on this surface, having reached the semi-finals of Wimbledon in 2024, but Bouzkova is the more consistent player on tour. This could head to a decider.
