Marie Bouzkova continued her progress at the Prague Open as she defeated Lucrezia Stefanini in straight sets in her round-of-16 match. It was a less convincing performance from the Czech compared to her first-round match, as she was broken on four separate occasions, but she kept creating opportunities on her opponent’s serve and won out 6-4 6-4.
She will face Ann Li in the next round, after the American beat Leolia Jeanjean in two sets. It was a controlled display from Li, who faced just one break point and wasn’t broken throughout the contest. She won 6-4 6-3 after just an hour and 17 minutes.
Bouzkova leads the head-to-head 1-0 at tour level, defeating Li in the second-round of Wimbledon three years ago. They also competed in a US Open qualifier in 2018, with Bouzkova coming out on top in straight sets. The Czech has shown her battling qualities already at her home tournament and that might just pull her through against Li once again.
