Mariano Navone vs Flavio Cobolli prediction

Mariano Navone chose to play in Mallorca last week, but he lost his opening match to Lorenzo Sonego in three sets. The Argentine tends to struggle on grass, but he did win his first-round match at the All England Club last year, after a win over Denis Shapovalov. In terms of his overall season, it has been positive for Navone as he won his first tour-level title in Bucharest. He also reached another final in Geneva.

His first-round opponent is Flavio Cobolli. The Italian advanced to his first Grand Slam final at Roland Garros earlier this month, losing to Alexander Zverev in five sets. Cobolli then opted to compete at the Halle Open to aid his grass court preparation, but he lost his opening match tamely to Frances Tiafoe. Cobolli excelled at this event last year, making it all the way to the quarter-finals before a four set defeat to Novak Djokovic.

Cobolli is the commanding favourite in this one, and he will be expected to safely progress to round two.
