Mariano Navone vs Denis Shapovalov prediction
Mariano Navone only competed at the Mallorca Championships on grass prior to Wimbledon and couldn’t make it out of qualifying. The Argentinian is a clay court specialist and has never won a match at the All England Club, losing in the first-round last year.
Denis Shapovalov’s form has not really improved on the grass after a poor clay season. He lost in the first-round of Stuttgart and then followed that up with a second-round exit in Halle to Flavio Cobolli. Shapovalov had beaten Ugo Humbert in the first-round and was close to a win over the Italian but lost on a deciding tiebreak in a very tight encounter. Nevertheless, the Canadian has made it past the first-round here for four years in a row and enjoyed a memorable run to the last four in 2021.
Though Shapovalov is not yet thriving on the grass, Navone is unlikely to offer much resistance in the first-round.
