Maria Sakkari has climbed back up to 33 in the world after an improved campaign in 2026. Her strongest WTA result came in Doha, where she came from a set down to beat six-time Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek as she reached the semi-finals, losing to Karolina Muchova. Her most recent tournament was in Singapore last week; she won her opening match against Nao Hibino before losing to Aliaksandra Sasnovch. She receives a first-round bye in Beijing.
