Maria Sakkari vs Jessica Pegula prediction

These two are familiar foes and know each other’s respective games extremely well. Whilst Maria Sakkari has fallen on tough times, she remains strong opposition and boasts five wins over Jessica Pegula across her career. But USA’s Pegula knows how to succeed in Canada, having won this title back in 2024, defeating fellow American Amanda Anisimove in the final.

Pegula hasn’t been in the best form of late, losing in the first round of Wimbledon, before being knocked out early in Washington by eventual winner Leylah Fernandez. She’s going up against a player in Sakkari who is coming off the back of a hard-fought victory in round one here in Montreal, which will have given the Greek a huge boost.

However, Pegula isn’t one to panic and her rock solid, consistent game should see her compete at a high level once again. She knows what it takes to come out on top in this tournament and has to be favoured to get past Sakkari.
