Maria Sakkari vs Coco Gauff prediction

Maria Sakkari progressed in Toronto after a comfortable win over Zeynep Sonmez. The former world number two could only generate a first serve percentage of 42%, but she still won 83% of those points and was broken just once, winning 6-3 6-2 after an hour and 20 minutes.

She will now face Coco Gauff. The two-time Grand Slam singles champion got her campaign underway with a straight sets win over Kayla Day. Gauff failed to serve out the match at 5-4 up but did so at the second attempt to win 6-2 7-5. This was her first match on tour since her semi-final loss to Karolina Muchova at Wimbledon.  

Gauff leads the head-to-head 6-5 and 5-4 on hard court, but she has also won five of the last six meetings. Sakkari will have to serve a lot better if she is to have a chance against the 22-year-old, who consistently creates opportunities in her return games.
