World number 49 Maria Sakkari pulled off a bit of an upset the other day as the Greek now takes on Claire Liu, who also pulled off her own shock earlier this week.

Maria Sakkari vs Claire Liu prediction
Maria Sakkari, who has only gone on one decent run at a WTA tournament this year which came in Doha back in February, pulled off an upset in the first round of the French Open. She defeated number 12 seed Linda Noskova with a couple of hard-fought sets at Roland Garros.
Claire Liu came through three qualifying victories and then went on to defeat Japan’s number two Moyuka Uchijima in the first round. Liu went behind in that game but then won the second set 6-0 before being 4-1 up in the decider as Uchijima retired. Liu has not made it past the second round of a Grand Slam event.
Sakkari, a semi-finalist at the French Open and the US Open in 2021, has drifted for a few years but the former world number three will believe an opportunity has opened up here.
