Marcos Giron vs Adrian Mannarino prediction
Marcos Giron did not get his hard court summer swing off to a strong start, as he was defeated by Jaume Munar in the first-round of the Washington Open. Nevertheless, he does have a pretty impressive record on the surface this season, with back-to-back quarter-finals in Delray Beach and Acapulco followed up by a fourth-round appearance in Indian Wells earlier in the year.
Adrian Mannarino enters the draw as qualifier, having beaten Juan Carlos Manuel Aguilar 6-3 6-1. His productive grass court season ended in the final of the Newport Open but he had a much tougher time of things in Los Cabos, going down to James Duckworth in the first-round. Mannarino is without a victory in the main draw of an ATP hard court event this year.
This will be their seventh meeting, with Giron leading the head-to-head 3-2 and 2-1 on outdoor hard court. The American has won their last three matches and defeated Mannarino in the second-round of the Delray Beach Open last year, their most recent encounter.
Giron will be a commanding favourite to extend his winning run against the Frenchman in Toronto this week.
